Marietta, GA – Growing from a four man shop in Marietta to a multi-location mobility equipment dealer powerhouse in the Southeast has been methodical, educational and gratifying for everyone at HDS VANS & MOBILITY. From the top down, everyone at HDS has one goal in mind; servicing the customer to the best of their abilities while asking, “What would Michael do (Michael Dresdner, the president and owner of HDS)”.
The transition into the mobility industry is varied, and Dresdner is no exception. In the 80’s, Michael was a restaurateur. For over a decade, he invested his time and energy into starting up restaurants and growing restaurants. Hard work is his passion and he follows the “Let’s just get it done” philosophy. His favorite part of the restaurant business was visiting with the customers. When his tenure with the restaurant industry came to an end, an opportunity arose to join the mobility industry, and Michael jumped at the chance to put his passion for people to work in a different setting.
Fast forward 20 years and 40 additional employees, and Michael still loves his business, his employees and most of all his customers. After opening his fifth location in Chattanooga, TN, Michael reflected on the 90’s and his beginning in the mobility industry. “I enjoyed seeing every job we’d worked on, especially on the more complex jobs and even right down to inspecting vehicles going out to ensure they were clean,” said Dresdner. It is this detail and work ethic that he has instilled in his employees over two decades. When you ask employees about the culture at HDS, they all say the same thing. When talking about their outstanding customer service and doing what is right for the customer; They ask themselves, “What would Michael Do”?
One of the most important aspects of HDS’s philosophy on customer service is assisting the customer in having a great experience and setting expectations. HDS has developed guidelines that are mailed to customers to help them maximize their convenience and comfort when visiting any HDS location for extended service or fittings. These guidelines help customers make the most of their visit with reminders about things like: directions and traffic (plan accordingly), lodging options, emergencies, temperature of the facility, medications, meals, etc.
“Michael and his dedicated team at HDS are the epitome of a VMI Dealer,” said Doug Eaton, VMI’s President and CEO. “HDS is a true partner to Vantage Mobility in every sense of the word. Their experience, skill and compassion are imperative in bridging the gap from us at VMI in Phoenix to our important and deserving customers.”
HDS is proud to say they “sell a lifestyle, not a van”. They pride themselves on utilizing their experience, skill and understanding to help customers find the right mobility product for their unique needs. Some customers have made mistakes by purchasing wheelchair vans online, only to realize the van was not a good match for their specific needs. HDS VANS & MOBILITY welcomes these customers and helps them through any difficulties. HDS VANS & MOBILITY is truly customer-focused, and it shows in every way.
