One Today is a charity project by Google that lets you give a little bit of your money and time to change a lot of people’s lives. The app highlights a new nonprofit, organization or cause each day and lets you make tax-deductible donations. Challenge your friends to beat your donation or match theirs. You’ll receive photos and videos from people working on the cause.
Kiwanis International helps children around the world through its robust volunteering programs. More than 600,000 people volunteer through Kiwanis, and this app connects you to local opportunities.It also lets you fundraise and donate to the organization.
Websites for Volunteering
DonorsChoose lets you donate money for school supplies for teachers who work in high-need communities. Browse projects and make a donation of any size toward it. Once a project gets enough funding, DonorsChoose buys and ships the materials to the teacher. Within a few days, you can connect with who you helped.
If you want to make the world a healthier place with your volunteer experience, then check out Volunteer.gov. The website lists natural and cultural resource service projects that need volunteers. You’ll get to contribute to efforts run by the National Park Service, U.S. Geological Survey, and the Forest Service.
